With ongoing revision and consideration, we take a deep dive into designing elementary music curriculum documents that model inclusive mindsets and practices and prioritize both our students’ musical development and their social-emotional needs. Remaining rooted in musical concepts and skills, we view curriculum through a new lens: the “anchor values” that attest to music’s vital role in our lives and in the world. This comprehensive exploration includes concrete exemplars of a scope and sequence, curriculum map, unit plan, and lesson plan.
