District 8 Science Vision

District 8 envisions a coherent, high-quality science experience where every student engages in phenomena-based, three-dimensional learning that builds deep conceptual understanding. Through Amplify Science, students investigate real-world phenomena, make sense of ideas through discourse, and construct evidence-based explanations using Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning (CER). We are committed to building educator capacity to internalize curriculum, anchor instruction in phenomena, and integrate Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCIs), Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs), and Crosscutting Concepts (CCCs) — so students don't just complete tasks, but think and reason like scientists, prepared for advanced coursework and real-world problem solving.
