2025-2026 DIIT Updates FDOS
We continue to develop OASIS (Online Academic + Student Information System) to replace ATS, NPSIS, and parts of STARS as the official “book of record” for student academic and profile data, class schedules, attendance, and service information.
As of the end of June 2025, approximately 1,020 schools used the Attendance application to take period and/or daily attendance regularly, and 350 schools used the Grades module regularly, to create 1.6 million assignments. Please plan to continue using—or adopt for the first time—these tools in the upcoming school year.
New features released this year, between May and August 2025, included:
A new Meal Codes module to view and manage meal codes data
User enhancements to the Gradebook application
Capabilities for managing student profile data, confidential student information, and school setup data.
For background on the iterations of this project, in Fall 2024, we released a new student information platform that provided several features and a new entry point for the NYCPS Grades and Attendance applications. OASIS will continue rolling out module-by-module throughout the 2025-26 school year. Each new module will temporarily sync with ATS before its functions are fully moved into OASIS and phased out of ATS. By the end of September, we will publish a roadmap on the OASIS InfoHub page of when we plan to turn off different functions in ATS.
Review information and training materials for OASIS, including those for the Grades and Attendance modules in OASIS and the "How to Guides" and checklists for each application, to set up systems for the first day of school.
The Messaging application is the preferred digital method for communicating with families during emergency incidents. It now supports translation into 12 languages and works best when all families have an active NYCSA account with updated email and mobile contact information. This is especially important as the newly updated Chancellor’s Regulation A-413 (device policy) is implemented across NYCPS. As of the end of June 2025, nearly 1,400 schools were using the Messaging application. Please plan to continue using—or adopt for the first time—these tools in the upcoming school year.
We continue our work on ATLAS (Accessible Tool for Learning About Students), our new special education system. ATLAS for preschool-aged students launched in December 2024, replacing CAP, and it will ultimately replace SESIS as well.
During the 2025-26 school year, existing systems will remain largely unchanged, but more users will gain access to ATLAS and receive training on its use. I will keep you updated throughout the year on what to expect from the new system. We appreciate your ongoing feedback as we roll them out and improve ATLAS.
Beginning in the 2025-26 school year, students will not be permitted to use personal internet-enabled devices—such as smartphones, tablets, or smartwatches—during the school day, unless a specific exception applies.
Reset your password if you didn’t do it in June—and remind your staff, too.
Review your school’s device inventory and student device assignment information in DeviceHub and assign devices to students that need them. Identify obsolete/inoperable devices and request device disposal actions.
Review and assign/unassign roles in Galaxy to ensure appropriate access to system-wide tools.
A test roster was sent to your ATS printer/scanner on Tuesday, August 26. Scan it like a real attendance sheet by September 5 to confirm everything works—no need to bubble anything before scanning.
Remember to complete your annual service renewals in FAMIS by September 26 for all NYCPS-issued cellular devices and hotspots at your school.
PreK to third-grade students can now log in using a QR code or image password.
Remind your SPOC(s) to join office hours every Wednesday at 11 am and complete the SPOC Bootcamp + Micro-credential series, available anytime online.
Professional learning: Visit the Pro-Learner InfoHub page for step-by-step instructions on using Pro-Learner, the “one-stop shop” for professional learning, through TeachHub.
Use only ERMA-approved third-party software; check your tools against the vetted list in the Enterprise Request Management Application (ERMA).
Keep your computer secure by running regular software updates. (FYI: Windows 10 support ends October 14, 2025, so plan to replace devices that can’t be upgraded to Windows 11 before then.)
Remind families about free and low cost internet options that are available to them.
