The Color Wheel in Photopea
1. Color Wheel Project Objectives -- Oct 14
SWBAT:
1. Use Photopea to Draw a color wheel that includes the 12 correct color wheel colors
2. Use shape and placement to show color theory concepts like color relationships, groupings, and results of mixing
3. Use advanced Photopea drawing skills

3. Create Your File: Oct 14
Log in to Photopea.com and choose New Project
Name your project "Color Wheel" followed by a space, your last name and then your first name.
Choose WHITE for the Background
Select the PRINT preset and then LETTER
Click "Create"
4. Draw Primary Color Shapes & Add Color: --- Oct 14
DRAW & COLOR 3 PRIMARIES
5. Select ANY SHAPE TOOL you desire
6. Draw it STRAIGHT at the top of the triangle
7. Select the MOVE TOOL and hold down on the OPTION KEY, while dragging the new shape to make a copy. Position the COPY at one of the BOTTOM points of the triangle
8. Again, with the MOVE TOOL, make a COPY of the shape by OPTION-DRAGGING. Position the 3rd COPY at the remaining point of the triangle.
9. Set the fill to each shape to RED, BLUE, & YELLOW as shown in the sample left. make sure to have both the layer and the shape tool selected when you do it.

COPY & FLIP the TRIANGLE
Use the OPTION-DRAG trick to make a COPY of your TRIANGLE
FLIP the TRIANGLE 180 degrees with the FREE TRANSFORM option in the EDIT MENU.
You can use the OPTIONS BAR to enter 180 degrees or you can rotate while holding the shift key.
POSITION the new TRIANGLE neatly as shown in the sample left
6. Draw Secondary & Tertiary Shapes -- Oct 17
DRAW, COPY & POSITION MORE SHAPES
Use the PARAMETRIC SHAPE tool to create a unique shape for at least ONE of your COLOR GROUPS
Use the OPTION-DRAG trick to make COPIES
Position shapes NEATLY
Make sure you have 3 different shapes copied the correct # of times so that there are 3 Primary Color Shapes that are all the same, 3 Secondary color shapes that are all the same, and 6 tertiary color shapes that are all the same.
For stars, you can play with the inner radius setting for different results.
Use an even number oof points or sides to create a more balanced and symmetrical design. But make sure you can draw it straight. Photopea is a bit glitchy with this; I was not able to draw a straight 10 point star.7. Rasterize Layers & Add Color to 3 Secondary Color Shapes -- Oct 19
Copy and paste the color wheel here oN the right into your Photopea Color Wheel file
Rasterize your 3 Secondary and 6 Tertiary color layers. First SELECT them in the layers panel and then choose RASTERIZE in the LAYER MENU (LAYER > RASTERIZE)
3. Use the MOVE TOOL to select YOUR SECONDARY color SHAPE where VIOLET should go (Refer to color wheel you pasted in if needed)
4. Select the EYEDROPPER TOOL to pick the VIOLET from the PASTED in COLOR WHEEL. Now the Foreground color is set with that VIOLET.
5. Select the PAINT BUCKET TOOL. Make sure you completed STEP 3 and have the correct layer selected. CLICK with the PAINT BUCKET on the shape for VIOLET to fill it with the correct color.
6. Repeat the process for the other SECONDARY COLORS - GREEN & ORANGE.
8. Add Color to 6 Tertiary Color Shapes -- Oct 19
Follow the steps from section 7 above to add color to your 6 Tertiary Color Shapes
2. DELETE the PASTED in COLOR WHEEL when you have finished coloring in all the shapes
9. Delete Triangles & Add Labels -- Oct 20
Check to make sure all your SHAPES are POSITIONED correctly and neatly. Your color wheel should have SYMMETRY.
DELETE the two TRIANGLES
In the LAYERS PANEL, scroll up and SELECT the TOP LAYER so that when you create TYPE LAYERS, they will be on TOP of all the shape layers
Select the TYPE TOOL and set the following OPTIONS in the options bar. Font: DejaVu Sans, Size: 120 px, Paragraph Alignment: Center
CLICK (without dragging) to create a POINT TYPE insertion point.
Type in the letter R
Select the MOVE TOOL and position the R so that it is centered in the shape for RED.
Use the FREE TRANSFORM option in the EDIT MENU to SCALE the letter to the SIZE you would like. Be sure to maintain proportions by holding down the SHIFT key while dragging on the CORNER TAB.
Select the MOVE TOOL and OPTION DRAG the letter R to copy it onto the other PRIMARY and SECONDARY color shapes. Leave the TERTIARY color shapes EMPTY for now
Use the TYPE tool to CHANGE the letters as shown in the sample left.
Use the MOVE TOOL to reposition the letters as needed so that they are neatly positioned.
10. Add the Tertiary Color Labels -- Oct 20
OPTION-DRAG the letter R and position it on top of the shape for RED-ORANGE.
ZOOM into the SHAPE
Use the FREE TRANSFORM option in the EDIT MENU to SCALE DOWN the letter to the SIZE so it fits, with a border of space around it, inside the shape. Be sure not to distort the proportions.
Use the TYPE tool to CHANGE the label to R-O
Select the MOVE TOOL and OPTION DRAG the R-O label to copy it onto the other TERTIARY color shapes.
Use the TYPE tool to CHANGE the labels as shown in the sample left.
Use the MOVE TOOL to reposition the labels as needed so that they are neatly positioned.
11. Add Line of Text with Your Name & Class Period -- 20
Select the BACKGROUND Layer in the Layers Panel.
Select the TYPE TOOL
Set the FONT to Deju VuSans, Book, the SIZE to 40 PX, and the ALIGNMENT to CENTER
Review Different kinds of Cases if you don't know what "Title Case" is.
Use POINT TYPE and TITLE CASE (see step 4) to type in a Title, your name followed by a comma and then your class period. (See screenshot)
With the TYPE TOOL, highlight the TITLE and change the font to Deja Vu Bold Oblique and the SIZE to 60 px
Use the MOVE TOOL to position your text to the LOWER CENTER of your page INSIDE the PRINTABLE AREA.
NOTE: Oblique and Italic are the same thing
12. Complete Peer Review, Reflection, & Self-Grading --

Switch seats with a classmate so that you can review each others' work and give feedback. Review the grading criteria (below).
Go to the GC assignment posting
Type your Peer Review into your classmate's Color Wheel Assignment Private comment section. Include one compliment and one suggestion based on the grading criteria. Also include your name.
Make sure to have them do the same for you!
If you are having trouble getting someone to do a peer review, let me know
Also include a REFLECTION: What were you successful at? What did you struggle with?
Finally add what GRADE you think you deserve.
