In partnership with Digital Age Learning, students at P.S. 85 are using technology to explore what it means to be part of a community. One aspect of a community that 5th graders wanted to focus on was that of the economy, and particularly - small businesses. With various students demonstrating a passion for entrepreneurship we decided to explore the role small businesses play in the community we live in.
Students created their own small business based on their own interests and learned about what it takes to be an entrepreneur in The Bronx. We believe small business are at the heart of our community. Our neighborhood has one of the fastest growing rates of small business increases in the entire city so we wanted to highlight how that impacts our community. Our students are seeing the power of the local economy and using that as inspiration for their own pursuits.
