Unit Description: Over the years, the foundation of American History has been based on historical US Supreme Court cases. We will review and analyze several of these historical cases and the impact it has had on different races and cultures in America. By including the struggles of many different groups, we seek to increase not only student knowledge but student’s compassion and tolerance towards other. The groups we will focus on are African Americans, Hispanic Americans and LBGTQ+. At the end of our study of the civil rights and the restriction/expansion of the rights of these groups, student will choose the group to focus on when completing an assessment to demonstrate their knowledge/learning.
