COMMUNITY
The Hawk Battalion is committed to serving our community, locally and nationally. Cadets have organized and participated in all sorts of activities supporting the community including the Special Olympics, Cole's Land Transportation Museum, Wreaths Across America, Maine Veterans Home in Bangor, Flags for Veterans, House in the Woods, and Combat Veterans to name a few.
PATRIOTISIM
Cadets practice patriotisim both in and out of the classroom. Love of the nation means honor and respect of the nation's flag and its values. Part of JROTC is learning about these values, how they can be applied, and why they matter. Cadets participate in both the Veterans and Memorial Day parades.
ADVENTURE
Although we spend a lot of time working with our Cadets on becoming better citizens, we also take time to have fun. We have a number field trips we plan each year. Some past adventure trips include kayaking, hiking, canoeing, cross country skiing, mountain biking, and more.
LEADERSHIP
It seems today, more than ever, we need more leaders who will step up and take charge in the absence of leadership. JROTC helps teach our young people about what it means to lead and how to lead. We put young people into leadership environments in the classroom and during projects working with the community. We take pride in teaching young people what it means to lead and why it's important.
CITIZENSHIP
JROTC helps develop young people to their fullest potential as citizens of the United States of America through classroom instruction and community outreach. Some of the things cadets learn are citizenship skills, their roles as American citizens, and American history.
