Hello TAs and mentors! This site is intended to be a one stop shop for all the things you need for teaching on a day to day basis. It's a work in progress, so please DM suggestions to Sara Wade in Slack. Thanks!
COURSE ASSIGNMENT is based on the following:
Enrollment: Enrollment numbers ultimately determine how many TAs are needed for each course.
Availability: If you complete the course request form and state your availability for 0, 1, or 2 courses. Student mentors are guaranteed a course so are assigned before TAs.
Time off: If you need time off in the first 4 weeks of the course, you are considered unavailable for the session.
Time off: If you need more than one week off during the session, you are considered unavailable for the session.
Fall 2022 update: Teaching Assistants are expected to be present for all business days during the session. If you are not available for all business days during the session, your pay will be adjusted accordingly. To make things fairer for everyone, contract teaching assistants will no longer be asked to cover for other TAs.
Performance: You are active in the Square classroom (1 post/week per course, daily replies &reactions) and you get your critiques and videos done on time.
Student ratings: Students rate TAS on critique quality, knowledge, and overall satisfaction with the TA. We consider this when assigning courses.
Staff mentors are assigned first, followed by TAs starting with thsoe who have the highest performance scores.
COURSE PAY is per student and is based on the skill level required to critique the homework of the course and the length of the course. Group size and piece rate varies per course as follows:

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities
Teaching Assistant Responsibilities
Contractor agrees to be a teaching assistant for assigned course(s) for the Summer 2022 Session starting July 7 and ending on or before September 30, depending on the course length.
Contractor must be able to provide written assignment critiques within 24 hours of their submission on business days.
Create near-weekly video reviews of student work to be seen by all current students.
Contractor agrees to use the School of Motion Community as a main communication method with students and with School of Motion.
Contractor must check all assigned community groups every business day during the session, respond to messages relevant to the contractor, including providing inspiration, encouragement, and clarification of questions students have about lessons and assignments throughout the session.
Contractor must post a short video introducing yourself in the School of Motion Community classroom for your course(s) during the first week of the session. Note you may reuse the same video from session to session, if applicable.
Contractor must post a weekly post tagged for your course in the Square with inspiration, tips, tricks, or encouragement for your students.
To enable Contractor to provide services, Contractor may have access to School of Motion’s note taking applications and other private material.
