"The Evolution of Soccer”

The soccer season is finally over. Though the team definitely ended on the wrong side of the win/loss column, it is important to remember that this was our first season. For a first season, we should measure our progress in growth and improvement, not just wins and losses.
School Lane ended the season with a record of 1 Win, 4 Ties, and 9 Losses. The Lions had a rough start, but as the season went on they continued to get better and better each game. The last few games that the team played were against the best teams in the league, and though they may not have pulled in a W, their play was marginally better than in the early games.
This season, there were 4 seniors who played and had an amazing season: Aryan Shah, Hamza Mughal, Jacob Stefanowski, and Sheryaar Salman. Even though it was the first season for high school soccer and they are leaving, they gave it all they had.
In the final game of the season, the team said goodbye to these Seniors and celebrated their contributions to the team. Senior Aryan Shah was even credited with starting the team this year, in cooperation with Mr. Meehan.
Though the School Lane high school soccer team did not have the best record, they do have this off-season to improve and become better. All that matters is having fun and playing the game, so if the players had fun, that means they won the game.
