Morea: One of the Top Ten brunch Spots in Center City

Looking for a spot to grab a weekend brunch? Try Morea rated one of the top 10 brunch spots in Center City.

Morea was inspired by Scott Hockfield's honeymoon to Tahiti. The restaurant opened up in October 2020 when the pandemic was at its peak and we were still in quarantine; so not until recently did the restaurant began to gain attraction. Morea is a contemporary American styled restaurant which offers it all: brunch, lunch, dinner, and happy hour.

The space is very open, with lots of windows to allow the sun in, with open concept floor spacing. Furniture is spaced out so you don’t feel cramped, providing guests with the comfort of just enjoying their meal with their party. The setting is surrounded with warm lights hanging from the ceiling, along with soft led lights throughout the bar, and window frames. The windows are also covered with string fairy lights. The seating is very homey, soft emerald green sofas, along with gray cushioned chairs for the dinner tables.

My experience there was good. They had just opened and we were the first customers. Our waitress/cook quickly began to take our order and since it was the typical American breakfast, we didn’t need much assistance with knowing what to order. I ordered a strawberry french toast, with a side of egg, and requested a mix of mango, and pineapple juice. The french toast was very lovely. You could truly taste the strawberry flavour, along with the light and fluffy toast and presentation was also excellent.

However I didn’t like my eggs because I requested scramble eggs, and they were very runny and didn’t taste all the way cooked. I had a taste of their Belgian waffles which they’re known for and it lived up to its praise, very crunchy on the outside, but soft on the inside with the buttery taste

Although my experience was nice, visiting Morea again isn’t on the top of my list. The food was the average American breakfast. One thing that I didn’t like is that the main foods didn’t come in a meal, and you had to order everything separately like the eggs, and bacon. Normally when I go to a brunch spot eggs, and bacon are automatically a part of the meal. However, I would love to go back for a taste of that delightful french toast.

If you’re in the area and looking for a simple American brunch I would recommend paying a visit to Morea. They also offer lunch, dinner, and happy hour so you can go in and grab a bite any time of the day.
