“Love of Money and Face”. This piece earned its title from the notion of a capitalist takeover of society and the face of consequences involved. Deformity. Eagerness. Keep your eyes on the prize. How something so important is so detrimental to the people who lack knowledge?
This piece of art is a 12x7 canvas painted with acrylics by Elijah Collazo. It was done somewhere around December of 2018. There are many inspirations behind this piece. Just to mention some would be Jean-Michel Basquiat’s UNTITLED series, David Choe, Andy Warhol, XXXTENTACION, Earl Sweatshirt, and many more. Painting has always been a hobby and passion of mine since I was in early elementary school. I wasn’t always privileged to have the supplies to really express myself through my art as well as I wanted. So once I was, I started painting more and seeing my potential for art.
The definition of “good” when it comes to expressing yourself through art should always be your own definition. Whether it's hyperrealistic portraits, or abstract, landscapes, the routes to take on the canvas are countless. Art is what you feel. Art is what you hear. Art is exactly what you make the topic and word out to be. Once I realized that and stopped trying to fit in the lines of my inspiration so much, I excelled. Art can be a pain, art can be worrying, art can be beautiful, ugly, misunderstood, contradicting, mesmerizing, forgetful, a thousand words, no colors, colorful, square, triangle, no words, thoughtful, thoughtless, anything. Art is whatever you think it is. Art is whatever you make it out to be. There will never be enough words in any dictionary or language, to describe art's potential.
