SCHOOL RULES AND GUIDELINES
A. SCHOOL RULES AND PRAYERS:
1. School begins at 8:45 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m.
2. Pupils should be punctual at all times. Pupils who arrive late will be recorded in the Late Book.
3. Prayers or Morning Assembly begins at 8:45 a.m. daily
Pupils can only be exempted from participation in prayers by the written request from the parent or guardian.
4. Pupils arriving after 9:30 a.m. are considered absent for the morning session.
B. ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL:
1. Whenever a pupil is absent from school, a letter of excuse must be produced by the parent or guardian when the child returns to school.
2. If a pupil is absent for two consecutive days (two straight days) or more due to illness, a current medical certificate is required, certifying that it is safe for the child to return to school.
PUPILS SUFFERING FROM:
Diseases such as mumps, chicken pox, conjunctivitis (‘red eyes’), ringworms and fungi of the hair – all of which are contagious (catching) are given stated times by the doctor to be away from school. A current medical certificate MUST be produced when the child returns to school.
C. ABSENCE DURING SCHOOL HOURS:
After arriving at school, permission to leave the school premises (including for EMERGENCIES), MUST be obtained from the PRINCIPAL or his/her representative. Upon doing so, the parent/guardian must sign the Departure Book.
D. SCHOOL UNIFORM:
1. Students MUST wear the correct uniform at all times. For boys:- khaki shirt-jac with epaulettes, khaki pants with a brown belt, brown socks (worn above the ankles) and brown shoes. No sneakers.
Girls must wear a white blouse, maroon overall, brown shoes, brown socks and ribbons (maroon). Hair accessories must be either BROWN OR BLACK. No braids/hair extensions must be added to child’s hair.
2. No jewellery nor makeup is allowed; girls with PIERCED ears are only allowed to wear EARBOBS.
3. Any adjustment to the uniform MUST be accompanied by a letter, stating the reason(s).
E. CASH MONEY:
1. Parents or Guardians should avoid giving their child/ward large sums of money.
2. It is against the school rules for students to purchase items such as snacks or food from vendors off the school compound during school hours. This is for the child’s safety. Please note that the school sells snacks, and juices daily.
F. PARENTS:
1. Parents should NOT congregate on the school premises during school hours.
2. All parents/guardians on entering the school’s compound should report to the Security Guard and request permission from the Principal to proceed to the class room.
3. Parents/Guardians should discuss any problems involving their child/ward with the Principal and at no time should question, verbally harass or physically assault any student. In addition, they must neither aid nor encourage children in fights or quarrels.
4. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to be appropriately DRESSED when visiting the school, since the Principal will not allow persons who are skimpily attired to come on the premises.
G. Students who throw stones, use knives, scissors, broken bottles or any other implements to injure other students will be punished and may be suspended.
H. Pupils’ property should be clearly labeled.
I. HEALTH:
1. Forms for Dental or Ophthalmic appointments are available on request from the Principal.
2. The school should be notified of any students suffering from illnesses like epilepsy, diabetes or any other illness which should be monitored or need special attention.
3. Working contact telephone numbers for each student should be made available to the school so that in cases of emergency parents/guardians can be contacted. If there is a change of address/telephone numbers, the information should be sent to the child’s teacher as soon as possible.
4. It is also advisable to provide the school with the name of your child’s family doctor.
J. MEDICINES/DRUGS:
It is not the practice of the teachers, Principal or any member of staff to administer medicines or prescribed drugs to students.
