VIRTUAL FAIR GUIDE / FULL CAMPAIGN / WEEK 1 ACTIVITIES
Teachers love it when kids get excited about reading.
That's why you should host a Book Fair preview for teachers. Give teachers the video tour of your Virtual Fair and ask them to take the tour with their students at the end of class.
Enlist the help of your librarian, principal, and other administrators to create fun events for the entire school
Tammie Celi, Teacher Librarian at Sutter Middle School, Los Angeles Unified School District, created this Google presentation for her virtual classroom with links to fun Fair–related activities for kids. You can use this presentation to promote all Fair events, book talks, author videos, Classroom Wish Lists, and more!
We created a few templates for you to copy and personalize. Or you can create a similar presentation here.
School communities are excited to contribute to Book Fairs!
Especially when you tell parents, alumni, and local businesses that your Fair will also raise money to buy books for students in need. Invite your school community to contribute to a virtual book drive or solicit donations during your Fair for local literacy programs. Try creating an eWallet to collect donations. #FairShare:
Student Book Funds
A Massachusetts elementary school held a Virtual Book Fair, and the Book Fair Chair wanted to make sure every child got a book. The BFC created a "Student Book Fund" eWallet and collected over $1,000 from families and the PTA!
