Osiyo nigada, Osiyo Nigada means hello people in The Cherokee language today my topic is all about the Cherokee tribe I will be telling you what I know about the Cherokee tribe like how did there tribe survive all the battles and being pushed out by the United States and all the wars how is the Cherokee tribe still alive and doing well on their own that’s what I will be telling you about the Cherokee tribe and how they survive throughout their years .
In 1540 the first contract between The Cherokee tribe and Europeans happened. Did you know that the traditional foods for the Cherokee tribe are healthy and it can build up your strength for example let me tell you the food the Cherokee tribe eats is bread, wild greens, grape dumplings, and kmuchi which is the most traditional food the Cherokee tribe has. And their grape dumplings ever heard of it exactly grape dumplings are just dumplings with grapes in it. Exactly healthy and builds your strength.
In 1838-1839 The Cherokee tribe was forced to move outside of their territory the United States gave them a year to pack and move out but the Cherokee tribe refused despite their efforts they were forced to move out of their territory to Oklahoma. During that time, they were moving, Georgia was trying to rule the Cherokee tribe, but the Cherokee tribe refused. When the Cherokee tribe got to Oklahoma and was settling in, their traditional day was on that same weekend August 29-31, which we call Labor Day.
After everything The Cherokee tribe went through, they had a do over and made their own newspaper, came up with their own language, has their own schools, and made other buildings. Now The Cherokee tribe is the new capital of Tahlequah before they were just themselves but now, they are a capital The person who came up with the Cherokee tribe language is Sequoyah who is known as the tribe chief to the tribe and to us.
This project was really fun mostly because I found out more about the Cherokee tribe and I got to teach you about the Cherokee tribe and how they are still standing after everything they went through like getting pushed out of their home and having to have a do over and I also talked about how the Cherokee tribe had a do over by making their own language, traditional day and their own newspaper in their language Wado Donadagohvi means thank you and goodbye.
