Introspection is Schalmont High School’s literary magazine and it is also our club name. This club provides high school students with the opportunity to publish their original artwork, photography, poetry, and short stories. We usually meet formally every other Thursday. Students also work after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays with editing, designing our layout, writing, conferencing, and updating the club’s website and Schoology page. All high school students are always welcome to attend.
Introspection provides students with a chance to showcase their work, and more importantly, it enables others to enjoy reading and seeing these final pieces. Producing such pieces requires a tremendous amount of time and effort. Our issues represent many Schalmont students’ hard work and collaboration.
It is always a pleasure and an honor to work with so many talented and thoughtful people who make our issues possible. Producing such elaborate issues of our magazine uses a lot of paper and ink, which is rather costly. Often, the issues are only read by people in the high school building. In an effort to be more economical, environmentally conscientious, and to reach out to the community to share these issues, the students of this club have worked to publish our issues electronically over the last several years. This provides all community members, faculty and staff with the opportunity to see Schalmont students’ artwork and writing in full color!
Furthermore, we will also place older issues on this website that can be viewed too. Posting such issues will hopefully create a sense of permanence for our artists and will also enable many individuals to celebrate and appreciate the effort and talent of so many Schalmont students.
Enjoy these issues! Please feel free to contact English teacher and Introspection advisor, Mrs. Sarah Mattice. Also, if you would like to leave the Schalmont students any positive comments about their work, please feel free to send those electronically as well.
As always, we look forward to continuing to foster a school environment that praises and acknowledges our students' artistic abilities.
