*This week is Positive Addiction Week! We will be doing so many fun and valuable activities to learn about how we can make positive choices in our lives. Below is a schedule of events!

Monday, May 6:

*P.A. Week kickoff in classroom 

Tuesday, May 7:

*Paper Pie Book Fair-- 1 day only! 

*Guest Speaker, Melvin Adams

*Fun Run, 1:00-- Parents may come and watch the Fun Run (they will be running a loop around the church) 

**Students may wear running clothes to school

*DANCE PARTY for students in K-3 in the GYM - 2:15

Wednesday, May 8:

*Art Exploration for First Grade Students 

*ART SHOW-- 6:00-7:30 

Thursday, May 9:

*Puzzle Exploration for First Grade Students 

*Lima Public Library presentation 

Friday, May 10:

*Race Day!!!

*Hot Air Balloon Lift Off, 7:30  (weather permitting) 

*Mass - 9:00 (long pants must be worn over shorts)

*RACE - Grades 5-8 - 11:15

*Kewpee Lunch!!

**Students may bring a board game to play in the afternoon

***Students may wear their Positive Addiction t-shirts with shorts, sweats (if no P.A. shirt, wear St. Charles colors)

*On Tuesday, May 7 we will be having a mini book fair! Paper Pie books will be here-- students may bring money if they wish to buy books! 

*Our last  Spelling test will be on Friday, May 10. 

Religion:  We will continue to learn about The Mass. We'll also work on a special Mother's Day gift for our Mom's. 

Reading:  We will have both large and small group instruction this week. We will be working again on Unit 6, Week 4 in our Wonders Reading program. The question of the week is "What traditions do you have". In our small groups, we will be reading realistic fiction stories about kids who experience different traditions.

Vocabulary Words:

Phonics:  We will learn about the three letter blends   /scr/  /spr/  /spl/ /str/ /thr/.  We will practice sounding out words with these sounds and we will practice listening for these sounds in words, as well.

Language Arts:  We will write about our favorite things to do! 

Math:   We will finish Chapter 11 in our GoMath series. This week we will explore what 2D shapes we get when we use 3Dshapes as tracers. We will take our Chapter 11 assessment. 

Science:    NO new Science concepts this week. 

Social Studies:  For information about Social Studies, please see Mrs. Birkemeier's website.
