The West Chatham Middle School Band is an instrumental music class that meets during Connections time each week.
Students in grades 6-8 learn how to play brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments and perform several major concerts throughout the school year.
Students have the opportunity to participate in multiple clinics and honor bands (including the GMEA District Honor and All-State Honor Bands, Georgia Southern University Winterfest Honor Band, and SCCPSS Clinic Band) through the audition process.
The West Chatham Middle School Band has been under the direction of Mr. Richard Jervis, M.M.Ed. since the 2010-2011 school year. Mr. Jervis is a native of Savannah and has attended Armstrong Atlantic State University (2001) and The University of Georgia (2005). Mr. Jervis has performed professionally with many local, state, and region ensembles and organizations. His main instrument is percussion.
