Literacy, used throughout all content areas, is critical in education. This year long program provides educators with the necessary tools to enable them to better support students in Reading and other content areas. This program is divided into three courses.
This course is provides a solid literacy foundation for reading instruction (the science of reading) in the classroom. Special emphasis will be placed on the major five elements of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.
This course is designed to provide a conceptual and instructional framework based for teaching reading and writing in the content areas. It will also provide additional research- based strategies to help readers comprehend such text structures.
This course provides foundational knowledge and diagnostic and performance-based assessment tools to design relevant instruction and measure students’ literacy achievement.
