Hello!

My name is Ms. Nakia Atwater and I will be your child’s 5th grade Homeroom teacher this year at Hesse K8. I moved to Savannah about 9 years ago from Denver, Colorado. Go Broncos! I also, have a daughter that’s in 3rd grade at Hesse.

I was in the Army for 8 years and received my degree from Columbia University. Some of you may remember me, I taught second grade for three years, and fourth grade for two and now promoted to fifth grade. I am so excited to be joining your child on his/her journey this school year. Fifth grade is an exciting time. We will continue to nurture and guide these young scholars to motivate their love for learning for future success in school and to get them ready for middle school.

We are a team and for your child to have a successful year, we will need to work together to ensure maximum results. I look forward to getting to know your child and facilitating their diverse learning needs. It’s going to be a great school year!
