Designing an Equitable Math Program: The New California Mathematics Frameworks

The new California Mathematics Framework incorporates a call to more engaging and equitable mathematics teaching. Together we will explore the dimensions of systemic change that support math instruction and the components of equitable and engaging teaching for all students. Participants will collaborate with partner districts to develop concrete next steps for implementation and how to incorporate their plan into the LCAP to actualize the framework’s call to action. 

Which Student Groups are You Okay with Excluding from Science Success?

 46.56% of Santa Clara County students Met or Exceeded Standard for Science in 22-23!  But wait there’s more, when we look more closely at the data that percentage quickly drops for our students who are Socioeconomically Disadvantaged (22.7%), Black (21.45%), Latinx (18.66%), Reported Disabilities (13.76%), Foster Youth (6.67%), and ELs (4.69%) & LTELs (3.79%).  This data leads to the question: Which student groups are you okay with excluding from science success?


During this interactive session, we will use a variety of tools to explore how you might leverage LCAP and the LCFF’s state priorities to make gains in not only Science but also in ELA and Math. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that access to high quality science instruction is an equity issue!

One Coherent System to Launch Your LCAP

Within One Coherent System, continuous improvement, accountability, and equity are key drivers to ensure that the goals and activities in the LEA plans will meet the needs of our students.  Keeping our students in the center and recognizing our collective responsibilities, the dashboard release in December catalyzes our annual continuous improvement cycle. LEAs review data and engage in activities as part of the state’s accountability system such as DA, CSI, CIM, CCEIS - Compliance and Improvement Monitoring and Comprehensive Coordinated Early Intervening Services) to develop and strengthen the system of support. The actions and activities should be integrated in the LCAP and SPSA. 

Engaging Educational Partners for a Successful LCAP

Educational Partners are invaluable to student success. In this session, we will discuss the important ways the importance of engaging all educational partners and ways to make this important process more manageable.


Understanding LGBTQ+ Resources and Supports

The SCCOE in October 2023 developed two guidebooks, the LGBTQ+ Teaching Guide and the LGBTQ+ District and School Policy Guide. This workshop will explore these tools and provide a comprehensive review of AB 1266, The FAIR Act and other laws and ED Codes related to the protection and support of LGBTQ+ youth in schools. Participants will learn about the key provisions of these laws and how they can be implemented in the classroom to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for LGBTQ+ students. The workshop will cover the rights of LGBTQ+ students, and how to address bullying, harassment, and discrimination in schools. The workshop will also provide practical tips and resources for educators, including best practices for creating a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a better understanding of the FAIR Education Act and other laws and ED Codes related to LGBTQ+ youth, and the tools needed to create a more equitable and inclusive school environment.

District business leaders play a crucial role in the LCAP development process and have the key responsibility of implementing budgetary decisions in collaboration with Program partners to support the LEAs’ goals of closing the opportunity gaps. 


This training will enrich our leaders’ understanding of the LCAP’s accountability and compliance function through an overview of the accountability system, update on the new LCAP template changes, walk-through of the LCAP template fiscal requirements (including but not limited to, the Budget Overview for Parents, Annual Update template, and Expenditure Tables), and sharing of best practices to ensure a successful plan approval.

Equity Evolution: Transforming Parent Engagement in LCAP Priority Areas
