My name is Leah Tritz and I am the Computer Paraprofessional for St. Croix Central Elementary. I teach all elementary grade levels the basics of computers and keyboarding. I am also the supervisor for the Elementary Student Tech Team which is an extracurricular group that meets once a month after school to learn more about technology that interests them.
My mottoes for this class are "Don't Be Mean Behind the Screen" which has to do with cyberbullying and "The More You Practice, the Better You Get!" Typing is a key skill for these students to learn and it will help them for the rest of their lives. The faster and more accurately they can type with their hands in the appropriate positions, the easier schoolwork and testing will be in the near future. I always tell them "Practice Makes Perfect" does NOT apply in this class because everyone will continue to make mistakes. Progress using the correct techniques is what is most important to me.
My background...I grew up in Spooner, Wisconsin and graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a double major in Mathematics and Biology, That's also where I met my husband. Together we have 2 terrific boys, ages 18 and 14 (where did the time go?) I've had various jobs (Dept. of Natural Resources, Xray Tech, Auto Claims Processor) but I've found my happy place here in the SCC Elementary School Computer Lab. The students are the absolute best!
