English Language Arts
Essential Standards 

Our essential standards are adapted from the 2020 Wisconsin State Standards. 
They are broken down into four strands: Reading, Writing, Language, and Speaking and Listening. 
The following are the essential standards for 7th Grade Language Arts class. Additional ELA standards are assessed in Litearcy class.

WRITING

-- W2: I can write for a variety of purposes to effectively communicate ideas and information.

-- W3: I can organize my writing and use transitions and word choice appropriate to the task and purpose.

-- W8: I can evaluate source credibility, gather and use information, and cite to avoid plagiarism.

LANGUAGE

-- L6: I can write with capitalization, spelling, punctuation, and grammar appropriate for the task and purpose.

SPEAKING and LISTENING

-- SL4: I can present information in an engaging and appropriate way for the audience and purpose.
