Class overview
In 4th grade this year the students will remain in our classroom for all academic subjects. In Language Arts, much of the routine from last year will be built upon regarding spelling words, reading vocabulary, and grammar. We will most especially be working on and improving writing skills and reading comprehension. In Social Studies, we will get to know some famous European explorers and learn about early civilization in North America. We'll also cover the United States' rich history by studying the Revolutionary War and Civil War and learning about the Age of Industry in our country. States and Capitals will also be emphasized in 4th grade. Science class will look at what our Earth is made up of, both on the surface and below. In Religion class we'll study the Ten Commandments, The Beatitudes and how knowing them better may enhance our relationship with God and with one another. This year in Math we will ease into, and eventually master multiplication and long division. By year's end we will be working with fabulous fractions! 4th graders will also enjoy learning Spanish with our wonderful Spanish teacher, Señor Pascale. Like all our teachers here at St. Charles Borromeo, we are excited to be with our students again, and are ready to have a wonderful teaching and learning experience!

About me
Hello! My name is Rosemary O'Brien. I graduated from Notre Dame of Maryland University with a degree in English / Secondary Education. I have taught in Akita City, Japan; Norfolk, Virginia; and New Jersey from 4th grade through adults. I have also lived in England and Australia with my husband and children. I arrived at St. Charles Borromeo last year, when I took over for Mrs. Derillo. This year, I am so excited to teach 4th grade again! I live in Cinnaminson with my my family and my fluffy, curly-haired dog named "Bruce." We have been parishioners at St. Charles Borromeo Parish for over 19 years. I can't wait to get to know the incoming 4th grade at St. Charles! Our classroom this year is on the second floor and I've been enjoying getting it ready. We have so much to learn and enjoy this year...I can't wait to start our adventure together!
