What if... because of your gender identity, presentation, or comfort level, you were unable to use the female restrooms?
What if... you could use dispensers during school hours, but financial hardship or an unsafe home environment limited access to menstrual hygiene products outside of school?
What if... you were a young menstruator, and attended the middle or elementary school?
Upon realizing the scale of need in our community for menstrual products, Go With the Flow was born - working to combat period poverty throughout State College.
10/16 Packing Event
On October 16th, 2024, GWTF launched it's initiative for the 2024-2025 school year. As always, we're working towards supplying for our community. However, in the coming year, we're looking beyond our previous reach to see how menstrual stigma can be addressed in other ways.
Through expanding our reach in events and drives, GWTF hopes to encourage members of the community to positively impact the world around them.
Bags were distributed across schools in SCASD.
The event was hosted in The Makery in downtown State College, which created an opportunity for members across State College to participate.
Keep an eye out for what the rest of the year has in store for Go With The Flow! More information, events, and ways to inspire advocacy are always in development!
First Packing Event (2019)
We held our first event on September 27, 2019. With over 30 volunteers--including school board members, teachers, students, parents, and community members-- we packaged almost 1,000 bags to be distributed through K-12 schools in our area. In the weeks prior, we received thousands of pads and tampons donated by small businesses, teachers, and students committed to making real change.
Since our first event, we have continued to distribute Go With the Flow bags to State High, the Delta Program, Mount Nittany Middle school, and Spring Creek Elementary School. When schools closed due to COVID-19, our production sped up, and we distributed over 1,000 additional bags during drive-up lunch pickups provided by our school district.
Since Covid, GWTF has continued to distribute products throughout the greater State College Community.
