Assessments
Academic Assessments
Each quarter you may have grades based on nightly reading completion, reading responses, some small quizzes on writer's craft or grammar along the way, and for all larger writing projects, you'll have a rubric. You'll receive this rubric at the beginning of a larger writing project and each element of the rubric will be specifically taught into. You will be given feedback to apply throughout the span of the project, with the expectation that by the project due date, your goal will have been to master each element to the best of your ability.
Quarterly Dedication Assessment
This grade reflects your daily dedication in English over the course of each quarter and will feed into your overall grade. We'll review the expectations and begin this in October, once the routines and practices of middle school have been solidly established.
How to Remain at 100% for Dedication:
Come to class on time (or with a late pass if late)
Come to class prepared with a charged iPad and your pencil case with all required materials inside (we will set up your pencil case in the first week of school)
Come to class daily with an independent reading book
Stay academically focused during independent and group work
Be kind, inclusive and respectful of others, socially, emotionally and academically
Use respectful tone and language
Take teacher feedback with grace
