Now that the song was premiered at the assembly, students can sing along to our Edgewood Wings Song. Click HERE for a video that will play sound and then come back to this page to scroll through the canva presentation to follow along with the words.

3. Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by listening to "Los Machetes"

Listening Ball

Grab the listening ball from the tan bookcase by the door.
Take turns tossing the ball and asking questions we should listen for in this song.
After taking 5-6 turns, listen to the song
At the end, pass the ball around again and see if you can answer any of the questions either individuall or as a class.
Listen to the song again. This time, figure out the form of the song by calling out which sections you hear each time.

Decide as a class, what is the form of this song?

Binary, rounded binary, ternary, rondo, or rondo sonata?

4. Pout Pout Fish Goes Back to School

Sing the Song as a class
Do the B Section chant as a class, clapping and saying:

Trouble one, I'm not smart.

Trouble two I'll never get it.

trouble three, I don't belong;

so, four I should forget it.

5. Pout Pout Fish Goes Back to School VS. ZAP stations

Split the class in half
Half of the students can get into pairs (one trio, if necessary) and play "Zap" in stations. The containers for Zap are on the gray cabinet and the students know the rules.
The other half I AM TRUSTING TO PRACTICE ON INSTRUMENTS in the back for our performance. Students should improvise playing our Troubles Chant from the book:
1. Trouble one, I'm not smart; Trouble two I'll never get it; trouble three, I don't belong; so, four I should forget it.
2. They should start and end on the C bar
3. And remember our playing rules --**have a students share out rule reminders before playing to help.
Switch jobs! Zap should clean up and then wait for the metallophone players to exit before switching stations.
