Community Research in Action
Twenty-five Newark mothers. Eight hundred fourteen photographs of the local food environment. One photovoice project that turned passive consumers into food justice advocates — and culminated in a community exhibit at Leaguer’s Inc. in Newark.
Funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation through Rutgers REACH, this seven-phase participatory study shows how community-engaged qualitative methods can generate both rigorous data and grassroots advocacy for change.
