This Course is devoted to teaching students the general accounting principles. Time is devoted to analyzing and applying the effects of day-to-day business transactions of the corporate world.
The aspects of generally accepted accounting principles are examined, including the accounting cycle, utilizing the accounting equation, and creating and analyzing financial statements. Students will learn how to prepare income tax returns, reconcile a bank statement to a register and many more financial literacy topics will be covered.
This Course is ideal for students intending to pursue a college degree/career in Accounting, Business Management, Marketing/Advertising, Finance and Economics, as well as students aspiring to become business owners in the future.
Foundations of Algebra is designed for students who enter the high school without the skills required to successfully navigate an Algebra 1 course. The curriculum will be flexible. Students will be assessed individually to ascertain their mathematical background and knowledge. The instructor will then tailor the class to meet individual student needs with the goal of having students prepared for a successful experience in an Algebra 1 class.

Expectations: Students are expected to develop skills of mathematical problem-solving and become proficient pre-algebra skills. Consistent completion of assignments is expected. Motivation and commitment to quality work standards are essential requirements.
ELL Environmental Science is an introductory course for ELL (English Language Learner) students that has been developed to help ELL students develop necessary language skills and scientific practices to be successful science learners at SHS. It is recommended that students take ELL ES combined with ELL Biology over a two year span. The curriculum covers the major components of SHS Environmental Science including Earth’s major systems and how humans impact those systems.

Expectations: Regular attendance, maximum effort, there will be minimal homework.
ELL Biology is an introductory course for ELL (English Language Learner) students that has been developed to help ELL students develop necessary language skills and scientific practices to be successful science learners at SHS. It is recommended that students take ELL Biology combined with ELL ES over a two year span. The curriculum covers the major components of SHS Biology including characteristics of living organisms, cell structure and function, evolution, DNA and protein synthesis.
