"Them and Us: How your mind-set can shape the mind set of your learners."
Are you really aware of your own mind-set and how it affects your teaching?
In this presentation, I will explain how having a Growth Mindset yourself will help to re-engage reluctant and disaffected learners in your classroom.
"Oracy across the Curriculum"
Strategies and resources to encourage confident Speaking and Listening in the classroom.
"Growth mindset, effort and achievement."
Research has shown that there is a correlation between student effort and achievement. Teaching students that intelligence is malleable and can be grown may encourage them to put more effort into their work and help them achieve their potential. This talk gives some possible ways of helping students focus on effort as a way of increasing achievement.
"Engaging the Nerds"
A brief introduction into competitions that some of the non-sporty, non-acting, quiet types find appealing. It is difficult to engage, stimulate and push the most able because we think of them as needing more of the same but harder. There is a place for extension work but perhaps thinking beyond school reaps benefits too.
"Curriculum design for the new GCSE"
A look at how to build a spiral curriculum that refreshes skills whilst challenging and motivating students to succeed.
"Challenge Time – a group based Project management style approach to learning"
There are three stages: The Check-in; The Challenge; The Debrief. It is in the Debrief that the real crystallisation of learning occurs – it is where mistakes are celebrated, explored and analysed and next steps identified.
"Active Engagement and Group Work"
"Facilitator Style Lessons"
