Individuals whose misuse of substances has led to legal charges or court involvement are eligible for his program. People may be referred through the court, their attorney or by contacting SCAD directly. One a referral has been received, SCAD will schedule a time to meet to discuss eligibility and needs. Eligibility will be determined by the nature of the charges (generally misdemeanor, nonviolent, drug-related offenses in Sullivan County) and the individual's desire to pursue treatment and recovery. Violent offenses are not eligible.
The program is designed to promote rehabilitation and recovery from substance use, reduce recidivism, and have a positive impact on the community.
The goals of the Pretrial Intervention Program are twofold. Participants:
will attend court hearings, andÂ
will remain arrest-free while participating in the program.
The Pretrial Intervention Program assists participants with entry into substance abuse treatment programs, sober living houses, employment, assistance with transportation to an inpatient treatment program, court hearings, and probation meetings.
Through the support of the courts and judges, the Pretrial Intervention Program continues to grow. Clients include those still in jail, in an in-patient or intensive outpatient treatment, in counseling/support group meetings, and in sober living houses.
