Mr. Rickerson's Classroom Expectations:

-Students know and follow all school/district policies.

-Students participate in classroom instruction, whether individually or in groups.

-Students complete assignments on time, or by the time discussed between the teacher and student in the event of an absence or circumstances by which the due date must be adjusted.

-Students provide and maintain tools for class (writing utensils, paper, iPads) including keeping iPads charged and usable during class at all times.

**In addition to the above guidelines, I have a few additional philosophies regarding my expectations:

If a student is ever unsure or confused about any content, assignment, project, test, deadline, etc., I am always willing to communicate with students for clarification, enrichment, remediation, and encouragement to make sure students possess everything they need to succeed in class, and I strongly encourage students to communicate with me any problems or confusions they may have with classroom content.

If ever there is a problem a student has with myself or another student or students in the classroom, I encourage that student to communicate with me so that we may solve that problem effectively and without incident. I always encourage students to feel they can communicate with me about any problem taking place in the classroom; my only requirement is that students do so calmly and in such a way that a win-win resolution can be reached. Name calling, yelling, physical aggression, and damage of property are examples of ineffective forms of communication, and in addition to not solving the problem, such examples are in violation of the student handbook and will be handled with the appropriate consequences. Effective communication is an extremely powerful tool, and I encourage students to practice it at every opportunity, and recognize the ineffectiveness of poor communication.
