About Me

I was born and raised in Monroe, MI and grew up attending Ida Public School. My father was a police officer and my mother worked in the school. I loved growing up in a small close knit town. I always wanted to be a teacher and my favorite subjects in school were English and History. When I graduated high school I attended Monroe County Community College for two years before I transferred to Central Michigan University where I earned a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education. My teaching major was English with a minor in History. I eventually earned my Master's degree from Eastern Michigan University in Educational Media and Technology. Some of my favorite activities are reading (of course), spending time with my family, going to the lake/ocean/pool (basically any pool of water), and traveling. I love taking what I call "Pure Michigan" vacations, but I also love seeing new places. My favorite vacation was my trip to Europe where I was able to see France, England, Italy, and Switzerland. But at the end of the day one of my greatest passions is working with students. I think a sense of humor is essential in finding happiness in life and working with teens definitely has its share of humor! My students make me laugh on a daily basis. I will never forget the day I was hired in to Sand Creek Schools. I felt so blessed to be working in a wonderful community like the town I grew up in, but I am now a true Aggie at heart!
