The American Library Association raises awareness around banned books across the United States every year. In 2023, over 4,000 titles were challenged, meaning people tried to ban them. Luckily, this number is down to just over 2,000, but it is still frightening how much people are trying to limit speech and access to important stories.

Explore Black stories to discover the wide array of experiences of this group of people. Reading about Black people more will help us break the harmful stereotypes that still exist around this incredibly diverse community.

Consider reading one of the books written by Hispanic and Latino authors that show the wide range of experiences these cultures endure. Just because they all speak the same language doesn't mean they all live the same lives.
