G Suite is our main collaboration platform, providing email, calendar, and document/file management functionality.
All students have G Suite account. Student accounts are created automatically when they are activated in our student information system, Aeries.
Students can send and receive email only with District staff and other students. Students are not able to send and receive email with people outside the District.
Students launch the Drive app on their iPad and log in with their District email address and password. Students can also go to Google Drive online and log in with the same email address and password.

ParentSquare provides a single platform to coordinate communications with families, and a way to push District-wide and school-wide messaging to secondary students.
We use ParentSquare to send District, school, and class messages, as well as direct messages to individual families. The student version of ParentSquare is called StudentSquare, and is available to secondary students.
We create ParentSquare accounts automatically based on data from Aeries. All contact information comes from Aeries.
Students launch the StudentSquare app on their iPad and then tap on Sign in with Google.
Parents go to ParentSquare and enter the username and password they developed.

Zoom is our video conferencing system. Zoom allows students and teachers to connect for online instruction and conferences, and supports online meetings with families and community members.

Aeries is our student information system, which stores student demographics, enrollment, attendance, grades, discipline, program participation, among other categories of data.
Students and parents use Aeries to track their own information, complete the annual registration process, and update contact information as it changes.
Student and parent accounts are created in Aeries when students are enrolled.
Students go to the Aeries Portal, enter their District email address, and then click the Sign in with Google button.
Parents go to the Aeries Portal and log in with their email address and Aeries password.
Jamf is our mobile device management platform, which lets us automatically manage features and apps on MacBooks, iPads, and Apple TVs.
Jamf Parent is a free app that allows a parent to manage their student's school-issued devices. Using Jamf Parent, you can restrict and allow apps and device functionality on your children's devices. You can only manage your children's devices with Jamf Parent during the time periods specified by the District.
Parents download the Jamf Parent application from the App Store, then open Self Service on their student's iPad and scan the QR code located at the top of the screen.
Canvas is the learning management system used by Santa Barbara Unified. Canvas is an online portal that allows students to access their courses, grades and assignments. Canvas creates a one stop shop to see assignment details, due dates, and learning resources for all of their classes.

Newsela provides up-to-date, Lexile-leveled, news articles covering a wide range of topics ranging from art and math to science and sports.

Lexia addresses the development of oral language, reading, spelling, and writing skills for students who are learning English. Students learning English will develop fundamental reading skills with the rest of their classmates and receive student-driven and teacher-directed personalized instruction.

Learning Genie is an online portfolio platform for child development observation documentation and assessment rating.

Students access their leveled text through an interactive learning portal designed to keep them motivated and engaged. Every eBook is available in online and mobile formats, and allows students to listen to, read at their own pace, and record themselves reading. Students then take a corresponding eQuiz complete with an extended answer response to test comprehension and determine future instruction needs. Once a child has read ten or more of the leveled eBooks and passed each of the corresponding eQuizzes, they advance on to the next reading level where they have access to lengthier and more difficult text.

ALEKS (Assessment and Learning in Knowledge Spaces) is a web-based, artificially intelligent assessment and learning system. ALEKS uses adaptive questioning to quickly and accurately determine exactly what a student knows and doesn't know in a course. ALEKS then instructs the student on the topics she is most ready to learn. As a student works through a course, ALEKS periodically reassesses the student to ensure that topics learned are also retained.
Students go to ALEKS and sign in with their provided username and password.

Welcome to EMC Passport. Passport is a Learning Management System (LMS) that gives you access to all levels of your program. In Passport, the instructor creates courses for each period they instruct, then invites students to the course so that they can be assigned student engagement activities.

Turnitin is an originality checking and plagiarism prevention service that checks a student's writing for citation mistakes or inappropriate copying. When a student submits a paper, Turnitin compares it to text in its massive database of student work, websites, books, articles, etc.

Fast ForWord is "a computer-based reading program intended to help students develop and strengthen the cognitive skills necessary for successful reading and learning" by Scientific Learning Corporation.

Learning Ally has the world’s largest audio textbook library with over 80,000 human-narrated books. Students can enjoy Learning Ally books by downloading the app or accessing the website. Educators can manage Learning Ally audiobooks and student accounts.
