A student can receive five hours of service by adopting a display area if the final review meets the following criteria.
To be granted service credit, the student must:
Meet with a Librarian to select a display shelf or table.
Propose a theme for the shelf or table display. (Suggested themes might include:
LGBTQ+ fiction and nonfiction
Memoirs (narrowed to reflect a specific group)
Genre studies (mystery, romance, sci-fi, etc.)
Representations of a historical event
See the Librarians for additional suggestions. Theme must be approved by the Librarians.
Use the rubric as a guide to create, gather, share, and organize your display materials including:
A written rationale (Note - The rationale should be your own work and may not be produced with the assistance of generative AI.)
Name each file with YourLastNameBookTitle1 (Example - ManganelloTrulyDevious1) and save to the Adopt-a-Shelf folder.
Once all items have been completed, email Mrs. Manganello or Mrs. Hanusosky a signed copy of the rubric with a photograph of your completed display.
Students will receive an email from Mrs. Manganello or Mrs. Hanusosky confirming the award of the five hours of service. The email will act as a receipt for National Honor Society service hours.
