AP Chemistry Resources
Not sure where to begin? Research is a fun puzzle. The inquiry process can provide direction as you explore the resources shared below.
As you explore, create a list of questions and keywords that might help drive your research.
Databases
Gale US History in Context offers a solid collection of secondary sources on events throughout American History.
Proquest features the complete coverage of The New York Times from 1850 to present. Articles published at the time of an event are important primary sources that feature media coverage on the event as it happened.
Jstor is a college-level database. It is best to use this database once you have a firm idea of the type of articles that you need for your topic. Search strategies must be carefully considered to achieve a successful result.
Always use the advanced search.
Use smart searching techniques like " " and boolean search terms for a more focused search.
Features like find (control + F) can help you to navigate the articles (once downloaded as pdfs) returned.
eBooks
The American Decades books are a fantastic resource as they include primary and secondary reporting of the arts, fashion, medicine and health, science and technology, and lifestyle for each decade.
Credible Sources
How do I evaluate the sources that I find online?
The sources provided below are credible.
To determine if an article is credible, a researcher should consider:
- Publication date
- Author's expertise
- Credibility of the connected institution
Just as you record observations in an experiment,
a researcher records observations on the research process.
