The SBHS Library has a collection of K-5 friendly poetry books on loan from Monmouth Junction Elementary School. Titles include:

When selecting a poem, consider:
Your audience (Monmouth Junction Elementary School students, ages 4-10)
What subjects might interest the children?
How can my reading bring the poem to life for the children?

. Sign Up for the Poem.
Add your name, block, and poem to the
Google Doc
.
One poem per SBHS student. Check the list to be sure that your choice is still available.
The SBHS Librarians will photocopy the poem that you select. Ask at the circulation desk.

Plan an introduction
.
Before you record your poem, introduce yourself to the students
. Be sure to:
Give your name and your grade.
What elementary school did you attend?
Who was your favorite teacher?
What is a fun memory that you have about the school that you attended?
4. record the
Poem.
Use FlipGrid to record the poem. Be sure to:
Speak in a slow and engaging manner that is easy for the
children
to understand.
Include your face. Unmasked faces keep students engaged! Smile and enjoy reading the poem that you select.
Check your lighting so that you are clearly visible.
Check your background. Make sure to film in a child-friendly area that is appro
priate for an elementary school classroom
