Nuclear engineering is a specialized branch of engineering that deals with the use of nuclear energy in a variety of fields, such as energy production, national security, and medical research.  As part of their job they design tests and run simulations to improve nuclear reactor performance and create safety measures to handle the waste. This is interesting because handling nuclear waste is an integral part of the job not just creating energy.
