Monday March 23- quizlet 13.2- (link below). Please make sure to complete the QUIZ activity after you have practiced your words. Type your persuasive essay. This will also be your task for tomorrow and the essay will be due at the end of the day tomorrow. Check back later for a preview of the week!

Tuesday March 17- WW 13 A & B; Begin drafting persuasive. Write for at least 15 minutes, 1-2 paragraph should be complete.

Monday March 16- 13.2 Wordly Wise sentences; Persuasive T Chart with 5 reasons for each side.

** This week's Wordly Wise words are 13.2 that last 8 words of the lesson, beginning with morsel. Please complete the sentences and email them to npietryla@sbstudent.org. I am grading assignments throughout the week.

Grammar: Adjectives

Writing: Expository Writing ;

Priority Standard 5.W.TTP.2- Write informative/ explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly.

This week students are completing expository essay about a sport they play. They are responsible for each piece of the writing process. We hope to have these completed by the end of next week. We will then begin expository essays about a person of their choosing.


Comprehension: Literary Elements: Character, Setting, Plot, Theme

Priority Standard: 5.RL.KID.2- Determine the theme of a story, drama, or poem from details in the text, including how characters in a story or drama respond to challenges or how the speaker in a poem reflects upon a topic; summarize the text

We will be discussing these literary elements in leveled guided reading each day.



Read & Write Homework

Each student has chosen a novel to read. Each night they are expected to read for 15-20 minutes and write a 2-3 sentence summary of what they read. Please let me know if you have any questions. npietryla@stbarnabasparish.edu. These summary sheets will be checked in daily and collected/ graded every Friday.


If your student should forget their paper, they can write their summary on any paper and turn it in.
