Head Football Coach: Coach Goerge, is a Staten Island native who brings over 35 years of head coaching experience to the Sea Vikings. Coach Goerge is a Monsignor Farrell graduate who played defensive back for legendary coach Dennis Barrett. He later got his first coaching job as a 20-year-old under Barrett at Farrell. After 7 seasons at Farrell Joe spent 1 year with Barrett as an assistant coach at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Since leaving the Academy he has held head coaching positions at Port Richmond, Franklin (NJ), Dayton (NJ), and South Brunswick (NJ) High Schools. Joe brings a quality of leadership and integrity to Sea that has stood the test of time. A NJ Football Coaches Hall of Fame member, with a 221-137-4 mark that includes five state titles in New Jersey and several coach of the year honors, Joe is thrilled to be at St. Joseph by the Sea and back on the Island. He will also teach Physical Education at Sea. Joe and his wife Robyn ( A Sea Graduate ) have 4 children Jennifer Hill, Michael, Jason and Courtney Samson.
Coach Michael Goerge is the oldest son of Joe Goerge. He brings years of experience as a college football player and as a coach. He played for his father at Franklin High School and is a Rowan University graduate.. He began his coaching career at Dayton High School in 2007. In 2012 Michael moved onto South Brunswick where he was charged with the defense. Michael brings a wealth of knowledge to the Viking staff particularly on the defensive side of the ball. An avid student of the game, Michael has coaches a number of positions on defense and offense. At South Brunswick HS Michael was instrumental in putting together one of the top defenses in NJ. Michael was selected as the NJ Defensive Assistant Coach of the Year in 2015. Coach Goerge will be running the defense for the Vikings and looking to continue the success he had during his time as South Brunswick High School. He is a Physical Education Teacher in the Springfield School District.
Coach Jason Goerge a veteran coach brings 15 years of coaching experience to the Viking staff. He is a graduate from Franklin High School where he played under his father. He began coaching the freshman team at Dayton High School, in Springfield New Jersey in 2005. He followed coach Goerge to South Brunswick in 2012 coaching the varsity offensive and defensive lines. He remained at South Brunswick, taking over offensive play calling from 2014-2018. During those 5 years South Brunswick compiled a 46-11 record with 5 playoff appearances and 2 State Titles. Last season he coached the varsity offensive line at Elizabeth high school in Elizabeth New Jersey. A Kean University graduate, Jason teaches Special Education English at Elizabeth High School. He is married to Angelica and they have a son Jaylen.
Coach Drakes is a Wilkes University Alum where he played football all 4 years. During his 5th year he finished his days at Wilkes by earning his MBA. Drakes played for Coach Goerge at Franklin High School where he excelled as a LB and RB. He was reunited with Coach Goerge at South Brunswick in 2013 where he coached the LB's and RB's and was a Business Teacher. Coach Drakes brings his high school and college football experiences as well as a wealth of technical skills with him to Sea. He is currently a Business Teacher at Elizabeth High School in New Jersey. Coach Drakes and his wife Debra have 2 sons Kenneth 3 and Ryan 1 and they reside in Monroe, NJ.
Coach Rossamondo grew up on Staten Island graduating from Port Richmond HS where he played LB and RB for Coach Goerge. He coached at Port Richmond from 1989-1991. He was reunited with Coach Goerge at Franklin HS in 1999 and remained with Goerge at Dayton and South Brunswick. Coach Rossamondo also brings a wealth of experience in nutrition, strength and speed training with him to Sea. Coach Rossamondo a graduate of Salve Regina University is a physical education teacher in Franklin New Jersey.
Coach Moog served as the Viking’s defensive coordinator for the 2019 season and will coach the OL and DL for the Vikings this year. Coach Moog and Coach Goerge go back to the late 1970’s, where he played for Coach George at Monsignor Farrell High School. Coach Moog ended his high school career as captain of the 1979 Metro Bowl Championship team and went on to play Montclair State University. Prior to coming to Sea, Coach Moog served New York City for 32 years as a Police Officer in the NYPD and as a Lieutenant in the FDNY, retiring from Engine 280, in Brooklyn in 2015. Mike and his wife Karen, who is Fr. Reilly's secretary, have 2 daughters Meghan and Jennifer.
Coach Trost is a College of New Jersey graduate. A safety on defense Coach Trost played for 4 years. He has coached high school football for the past 6 years in New Jersey at South Brunswick High School with Coach Goerge for 5 years and at Notre Dame High School last year where he was the defensive coordinator. Coach Trost has coached the linebackers and the secondary on defense as well as the slots and wide receivers on offense. He will also coordinate the Sea Special Teams for the Vikings. Currently, Coach is a business teacher at South Brunswick High School in New Jersey.
Coach Doyle brings years of football experience to the program. The Staten Island native has worked with the Staten Island Boys Football League for over 25 years as president of the league, head and assistant coaching titles, and a lifelong board member. He will be entering his second year as an assistant coach for St Joseph by the Sea.
Coach Del Giorno’s love of football accelerated during his Port Richmond High school years under head coach Joe Goerge. Mentored by Goerge, he went on to play college football at Salve Regina University in Rhode Island. He returned to coach at Port Richmond HS, first leading the junior varsity level for 2 years and then joining the varsity coaching staff. Coach Del Giorno is married to wife Nicole and has two daughters, Isabella and Noelle. Coach Del Giorno enjoys being a soccer dad and helped coach is daughters early on. Both went on to play at St. Joseph by the Sea HS (Isabella 2019 alum & Noelle class of 2022). Coach Del Giorno is excited to re-unite with coach Goerge and convey the love & brotherhood he experienced with them.
Coach Panagakos is a Port Richmond High School alum who played for Coach Goerge from 1988-1991. He started coaching in 1992 at Port Richmond. From where he would continue his coaching career as the offensive coordinator for the program from 1997 - 2010. During his successful time at Port Richmond, they won the PSAL Championship in the 2008. Panagakos's next stop would bring him to Monsignor Farrell High School as the JV head Coach. In 2015 to 2019 he became the QB/RB coach at Monsignor Farell High School for the varsity. Coach Panagakos currently lives in Staten Island with his wife Seda and kids, Jake and Maya.
Coach Peter Carretta is a veteran coach who brings over 15 years of coaching experience to the Sea Football Program. He is an alum of Monsignor Farrell High School where he was a member of the Lions 1991 CHSFL Championship team. In 1996 Coach Carretta received a BA from Iona College and is currently a Lieutenant in the NYPD with 25 years of service. His coaching experience began at St. Peter’s Boys High School then moved on to Moore Catholic where he helped launch both programs. He began his coaching career as a linebackers coach then was elevated to Defensive Coordinator for both teams. Coach Carretta and his wife Brenda reside in Staten Island and they have 3 children, Jason, Jaclyn & Jordan.
Coach D’Orazio is a native Staten Islander who graduated from Port Richmond HS where he played Safety and Wide Receiver for Coach Goerge. Coach D’Orazio brings a world of knowledge and experience that will truly benefit the Sea Football program. He has spent the last 7 years, including 4 years at Staten Island Boys Football League, volunteering his time and coaching youth football. Coach D’Orazio served New York for nearly 25 years with the NYPD, retiring as a Deputy Inspector in 2020. Coach D’Orazio and his wife Connie (A Sea Graduate) reside in Staten Island with their 3 children: Dominick, Giovanni and Audrina.
Coach Muscarello is returning for his second stint of coaching Viking Football. He has been coaching youth sports for nearly 20 years. Coach Muscarello brings a wealth of experience on and off the field to the Sea Football staff. He played organized football in junior high, high school and later on for The NYPD, winning a National Championship in 2002. He is a Navy veteran and is currently serving in his 27th year with the NYPD. Coach Muscarello will coach with the JVB and JVA teams.
As a former football and wrestling athlete for St. Peter’s high school in Staten Island, Sean brings an abundance of knowledge in injury prevention and performance training to Sea Athletics. Sean worked as a Certified Athletic Trainer at Raritan Physical Therapy and currently works for New York Sports Science Lab. Sean received his BS in Athletic Training from Kean University in 2016.
