Who can tryout?
Any SBHS student who will be in grades 9-12 in September 2024 may tryout. You must be in good academic standing in order to be eligible to tryout. Grades will be checked via Genesis on day 1 of tryouts.
What do you do at tryouts?
All athletes will be formally evaluated on the final day in groups of 4. You will perform a cheer, a dance, 2 jumps, and some form of a stunt. Spirit, personality, and general attitude will also be evaluated over the course of the 4 day tryout. All athletes, regardless of if you have been on the team before or not, are required to tryout.
Physicals:
In order to tryout, you must have a current physical and complete the medical forms found on the athletic website. All forms should be turned into the nurse. If you are a current SBHS student, your forms go to your grade level nurse at SBHS. If you are currently a Crossroads student, please turn your forms in to the nurse in your building (North or South), not SBHS. If you do not have an updated physical/medical forms turned in, you will NOT be permitted to tryout.
Attire:
Students who plan to tryout are expected to be in athletic clothing (tucked in t-shirt and shorts are preferred) with sneakers. Hair should be pulled back and absolutely no jewelry is permitted. Black and gold attire is encouraged!
Transportation:
There will be NO late buses available, so students are required to make their own arrangements home at 6pm.
Teams:
This tryout will be for both the fall spirit and winter spirit teams. For more information about our teams, click the "teams" tab at the top of the page. We DO NOT host any additional tryouts during the school year, so don't miss your opportunity!
