I have been a dedicated public school teacher for over 20 years. I spent many of those years as a first and second grade classroom teacher at Greenbrook Elementary School. In 2012, I earned a Masters degree in Special Education and moved on to work with students in the Resource Center. Most recently, I became an instructional support teacher. Supporting teachers, parents and students in this role is incredibly rewarding. To deepen my own learning, I recently completed another Masters degree at Rutgers University and became a certified Reading Specialist and Supervisor.
Although I teach academic subjects, I strongly believe that social-emotional skills are critical to the success of our students. I have deep knowledge of the Responsive Classroom Approach and I am a certified Responsive Classroom Consulting Teacher. Several years ago, I co-authored the book "Doing Social Studies in Morning Meeting." I spend my summers sharing this approach in professional development workshops for teachers across the country.
