Dear 2026-2027 Crossroads Students,
With the school year coming to a close, we know that many of you are looking forward to a well-deserved break. While you are making plans with family and friends, we encourage you to make reading a regular part of your routine. The benefits of reading are plentiful, including allowing you to expand your word and world knowledge, while maintaining fun, academic engagement in the summer months. Regularly reading also enables you to become immersed in all kinds of stories, building your empathy.
As part of our summer reading efforts, we are excited to announce the 2026-2027 Crossroads' One Book Selection, Notorious by Gordon Korman, and plan to hold a One Book Event in your middle school units during the first few weeks of the upcoming school year. While there is no formal graded summer reading assignment, we strongly encourage you to read the One Book, any of the other books on our list of recommendations, or other titles of your own choosing during the summer.
Please click on the links above to find information about the One Book, our list of book recommendations, and ways to find and check out books.
We look forward to hearing about all the compelling books you read.
Sincerely,
Crossroads Summer Reading Team
Credit to our librarians, Mrs. Ackerson, Mrs. Zito, and Mrs. Barton, for helping to select the One Book, provide recommendations, and create the slide deck with trailers.
