Project Overview:

  • Grade Level: This webquest is designed for 5th grade students
  • Discipline: Elementary Technology
  • Timeline: This project will take approximately 6-8 lessons to complete
  • Foundational skills required to complete this project:
    • Online navigation skills (navigating between multiple tabs, manipulating online videos, etc.)
    • Creating, sharing, and locating documents in Google Drive
    • Word Processing (Google Docs)
    • Multimedia presentation skills
  • Technology Requirements:
    • Access to reliable internet connections, either wired or wireless
    • Access to desktops, laptops, or Chromebooks that can access the internet
    • Access to computers with speakers, or headphones

Driving Questions:

  1. How do we measure?
  2. How to we convert units of measure?

Description:

Students will work collaboratively to research the units of measure for length, weight, and volume. Additionally, students will gain a foundational understanding of converting units of measure. They will demonstrate their learning by creating a multimedia presentation to share with their peers, teachers, and family members.

Student tasks include:

  • Working collaboratively
  • Navigating the internet
  • Navigating Google Apps
  • Conducting online research
  • Designing multimedia presentations
  • Presenting their findings to the class

The purpose of this project is to provide students with the opportunity to teach themselves about units of measure and converting units of measure. Upon completion of this assignment, students should have a foundation understanding of these concepts.
