Course Description
Students will learn the knowledge and skills necessary for constructing a house or other similar buildings. Areas covered may include reading blueprints, site layout, pouring footings and flatwork, floor framing, wall and roof framing, installing windows and hanging doors, installing siding, roofing, soffit and fascia, insulating, hanging, taping and texturing sheetrock, painting, installing cabinets, finishing and installing casing and baseboard, pouring steps and walks and more. The students will do much of their learning while constructing a real-life project. Appropriate dress and behavior will be required on site. This year we will be partnering with Aulick Construction to build a shipping container home. The container will be placed at SHS to be completed.
