Mock Trial

This extra-curricular activity is definitely different than all the others!  It is what its name implies:  PRACTICE COURT!!!  We practice here with Mrs. Herdt and a real attorney as coaches.  We compete in a real courtroom, often the Scotts Bluff County Courthouse in Gering.

Our season extends throughout the first semester where we practice daily at 3:40 in Room 131.  Mrs. Herdt is the Head Coach, and Mr. Parsley has the CATS class, which is available for additional practice and paperwork.  If you can get in there, do it because you'll get an additional 30 minutes a day to work on the case.

That's right:  the case.  This comes from the State Bar Association, and we usually receive it in early September.  It will be either a criminal or a civil case designed to give us great experiences.

You may try out for an attorney or a witness.  We also have a spot for a manager.  There are three attorneys and six witnesses, three defense and three prosecution.  You learn your roles, dress the part, and compete.  We've earned 2nd in Regionals the past two years, so you can bet our eye is on 1st!!

Please listen for announcements about when to come in and sign up.  We'll have informative meetings and then tryouts!  We all work together well, even if we have two teams.  Feel free to stop by my classroom to find out more.
