Scottsbluff Public Schools - Every Child, Every Day
This course is all about nutrition. Students will use the MyPlate nutrition model to learn about healthy portion sizes, balanced diets, and unique forms of exercise. Recipes prepared in class are developed to give students a sense of how to improve a recipe nutritionally without compromising flavor. Some recipes students may prepare include: Healthy Smoothies, English Muffin pizzas, Quesadillas, and many more!
Students will receive a progress report in class during the 3rd week of the quarter. If their grade is below a C, they must get a parent’s signature on their printout and bring any work they are missing by the following Monday. Entering Class: Gather folder from the shelf, find your assigned seat, and begin working on the starter posted on the board. You will be given until attendance has been taken to finish your starter.
Restrooms: Students are expected to use the bathroom during their passing time between classes. If class has started, students may only leave during independent work time to use the restroom, not teacher instructional time.
Food, Drink, Gum & Electronic Devices: Personal food or food from the cafeteria is not allowed in the classrooms, hallways, or lockers. Water bottles are allowed in the classrooms but may NOT have a straw and may only hold water. Absolutely NO GUM! Electronic devices like phones, watches, and wireless earbuds are not allowed in the classrooms. They must be shut off and kept in lockers.
Exiting Class: Within the last few minutes of class, students will wrap up what you are working on, put materials in their folders and return folders to the boxes on the shelf. The teacher, not the bell, dismisses you upon completion of these tasks.
Absences: If you are absent, it is your responsibility, not the teacher’s, to find out what you missed and get your work turned in.
Late Work Policy:
Daily work assignments and assessments are considered late if submitted after the teacher’s established due date.
The highest grade a student may earn on a daily work assignment and/or an assessment submitted after the teacher’s established due date will be a 70%.
Daily work assignments received one week after the teacher’s established due date will not be accepted and be given a final grade of a zero.
A two pocket folder to keep in the classroom
15-20 pieces of notebook paper to be kept in the folder
Charged Chromebook
Writing utensils (pens or pencils)
A positive attitude, a sense of humor, & an open mind
Tardy #1 10 minutes with teacher after school
Tardy #2 10 minutes with teacher after school
Tardy #3 10 minutes with teacher and a documented phone call to the parent/guardian will be made
Tardy #4+ Office referral
Students who fail to serve 10 minutes with teacher after school will receive a Low Level Referral for “Non-Compliance”
