Class Description
In Intro to Cosmetology students will be learning hands on basic skills on how to beautify and improve the skin, nails, and hair, along with theory to understand why, how each processes are achieved, and their origins.

Grading:
70% assessments/ 30% daily work
1. Assessments: paper tests, quizzes, & hands-on testing
2. Daily work: Hands-on assignments & worksheets
Expectations:
Be on time! In order to work productively we need all the time we have allotted. Our class consist of hands-on procedure work and we need to be able to move a manageable pace.
Be ready to work! Student must be willing to participate and practice all procedures being learned. [ex. waxing, manicures, facials, shampooing hair are hands on and will be worked on students themselves]. Being attentive is imperative to achieve the hands-on procedures taught. Student will be working individually and/or partnering on these tasks.

Accomplishments:
By the end of this course students will have learned the basic knowledge and skill of beautifying the hair, skin, and nails. Everything learned in Intro to Cosmetology is professional knowledge you will use in skill related job roles and in everyday life.
Absent/late work:
If work is late upon due date you will have 2 days to turn your work in after that it will be considered missing and not accepted. If you know you will be absent and it is excused, plan with the Instructor. If you have an excused absent due to illness or any unforeseen event arrange with the instructor.
Attendance/tardy policy:
We follow the handbook’s tardy policy. Attendance and participation are crucial for student success.

Course Schedule
Each week I will instruct and touch on different topics. Health Sciences, Hair procedures, Skin care procedures, and Nail procedures. Along with a ‘demo and do” hands-on methods that the students will be practicing on mannequins and other students.
