2nd and 8th Periods

Class Description

This course emphasizes basic skills to increase the student’s knowledge needed for everyday living. Skills are taught in an

authentic learning environment that will center on tasks of interest to the learner. Learners will be engaged in exploration

and inquiry, utilizing interdisciplinary teaching strategies. Scaffolded teaching strategies will be utilized to deliver a relevant,

engaging, and challenging curriculum. Students will engage in complex tasks that require higher-order thinking skills, such

as analyzing, synthesizing, designing, manipulating and evaluating information. This course is student-driven with teachers,

parents, and outside experts all assisting/coaching in the learning process. Learners employ scaffolding techniques.
