Day 10: Song that everyone loves (except you)

Baby Shark

Today's song is a variation of the hit song: Baby Shark. I remember singing this song in 5th grade at summer camp. It's funny to see all the different versions that people create! This version helps us remember to wash our hands, which is very important right now!

What's a song that other people really like but you don't? --Mrs. V

Day 9: Song that has a special meaning to you

You Can Close Your Eyes by James Taylor

Today's song is my daughter Emma's favorite bedtime song. My husband grew up listening to this song, and when Emma was born we started singing her this song at bedtime. Such a special song at our house.

Do you have any special songs you like to sing or listen to? --Mrs. V

Day 8: Your favorite artist!

Today features one of my favorite artists, Pentatonix. They're an a cappella group, which means all their music is created using only their voices! They cover a variety of artists, and each song is always unique! They won the TV show Sing Off in 2012, and have been popular ever since! Here are a few of my favorite songs and videos they sing.

The first video is a cover of Daft Punk. Pentatonix won their first career GRAMMY for Best Arrangement, Instrumental Or A Cappella for this song in 2014. . The group won the same category the next year for "Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy".

The second video is another cover, and the group uses body percussion in addition to their voices to create all the melodies and rhythms you hear in the song.

The third video is my favorite Christmas songs of all time, The Little Drummer Boy. I love how they use just their voices to make such a simple song sound so amazing!

Hope you enjoy! --Mrs. V

Day 7: A Song that's a Cover

Show Yourself--Frozen II

My daughter Emma loves Frozen II, we've probably watched it at least 18 times the past few weeks! One of my favorite songs from the movie is "Show Yourself" which is sung by Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel). My husband Ben found this video and shared it with me. This video was made and performed by Jared Halley.

Hope you enjoy! --Mrs. V

Day 6: A Song from the 70s

Lean on Me by Bill Withers

Today's song was written in 1772. Lean on Me is a classic song with a beautiful message.
"Lean on me
when you're not strong,
and I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on.
For, it won't be long,
'til I'm gonna need
somebody to lean on. "

Bill Withers was inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of fame in 2015, a very high honor for an artist. The first video is Bill Withers performing his song live in 1773. The second video is from his induction ceremony in 2015--this song was performed by John Legend, Stevie Wonder, and himself.

This is one of my favorite songs, and I hope you enjoy it! Can you think of a song from the 70s that you like? --Mrs. V

Day 5: Song Performed with Instruments

Beethoven's 5th & Secrets--Cover by Piano Guys
https://thepianoguys.com/pages/videos

Today's song is from the Piano Guys. I love listening to their covers. A cover, is a new performance or recording by someone other than the original artist or composer of a previously recorded song. This video features music from Beethoven's 5th Symphony and the song Secrets by One Republic. I hope you enjoy!

Do you have a song you like?
Can you find a version of it being played by instruments? --Mrs. V

Day 4: A Mash Up

The Wizard of Ahhs by Todrick Hall featuring Pentatonix

Today's song is a Mash Up! A mash up is when an artist takes different songs and mashes them all together into one song. Todrick Hall used his imagination to combine 17 different songs into one song. This mash up tells the re-imagined story of Dorothy as she travels through the Land of Oz to get back to her home! I love this mash up because it combines the different songs so smoothly, it's sometimes hard to tell a new song started! Hope you enjoy the video! The songs featured are: Judy Garland – Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Carrie Underwood – Blown Away, Katy Perry – Wide Awake, The Chordettes – Lollipop, Kelly – Shoes, 20 Fingers – Short Short Man*, Anna Kendrick – Cups**, Frank Ocean – Thinking About You, Danity Kane – Damaged, Miley Cyrus – Can’t Be Tamed, Taylor Swift – I Knew You Were Trouble, Kanye West – Power, Lady Gaga – Teeth, Mötley Crüe – Home Sweet Home, Daughtry – Home, Phillip Phillips – Home, Michael Bublé – Home

Can you find a mash up that you like? --Mrs. V

Day 3: A song that makes you want to dance!!

Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon--We LOVE dancing to this song! It has such a fun beat, we can't help but dance. What songs do you like to dance to? Grab someone at home and dance with them! Have fun dancing! --Mrs. V

DAY 2: A funny song!

Baby's Got the Car Keys by Trout Fishing in America

This is a funny song about what happens when Baby has the car keys! I love this song because it is fun, upbeat, and tells a funny story. When we were younger, my brother, sister, and I would listen to this album almost every day and belt out all the songs. :) It brings back lots of memories for me, plus the words are really funny! Hope you enjoy! What's a funny song you love to listen to? --Mrs. V

DAY 1: A song that has a color in the title

White Knuckles by OK Go--This song talks about how things can change, and the world will still keep on going. As the band says in the song "yeah, maybe it's not so bad".

I picked this song for Day 1 because it has the color white in the title, and it seemed to fit in with how I was feeling! Lots of changes these past few weeks, but life is still happening and I'm still able to make and share music with all of you. Plus, I love their music videos!
Fun fact--this video was done in ONE SHOT! That means they didn't stop singing and recording until the very end. This was the 72 video they made, and it was the best of them all! --Mrs. V
